Prior to the Macquarie era the following children were born to Joseph and Ann:-
Jane born cMay 1801, died cJuly 1801 in Sydney, N.S.W.
Elizabeth born c1802, died 20th May 1808 in Sydney N.S.W.
Eleanor born c1805 at Church Hill, Sydney N.S.W.
Female child born c1806 at Sydney N.S.W., died pre. 1822.
Ann born c1808 at Sydney N.S.W.
Ann was convicted of stealing at the Old Bailey in 1795 and
sentenced to 7 years transportation. She was 35 years old at time of
sentencing. Two months after she arrived she married Joseph Morley. Ann
and Joseph separated after four daughters were born because of Joseph’s
liaison with Hannah Railton. Ann took her youngest daughter, Ann, with
her intending to return to England in 1809. Their ship, the Boyd called
at Whangaroa, New Zealand and was captured by Maoris who massacred and
ate the crew and passengers. Ann and her daughter were among the four
people who survived. She eventually caught a ship to England but the
ship was forced to divert to Lima, Peru due to storm damage and this
where Ann Morley died. Her daughter Ann was eventually returned to her
father in Sydney.
