Edward Moore

Born: c.1791 at Manchester, Lancashire, England.
Arrived Sydney: 13th December 1818.
Vessel: General Stewart.
Married: Elizabeth Lomas on the 25th January 1814 at St. George’s, Southwark, London, England.
Died: 14th January 1869 aged about 77 years at Hardwick, N.S.W.
Buried: c.January 1869 at Glenmore, near Camden N.S.W.

Profile:
During the Macquarie era the following children were born to Edward and Elizabeth:-
Joseph born c.1814.
Mary Ellen born 6th March 1817.
Robert born 27th October 1820.

After the Macquarie era the following children were born to Edward and Elizabeth:-
Edward Lomas born on the 29th October 1822 at Liverpool, N.S.W.
James born on the 11th July 1825 at Liverpool, N.S.W.
William born on the 17th March 1828 at Lower Minto, N.S.W.
Elizabeth born on the 18th June 1830 at Lower Monto, N.S.W.

Edward and his wife Elizabeth were tried at the Lancaster Assizes and convicted of ‘forging and uttering’. Edward was
transported on the General Stewart, arriving 31st December 1818. After he and Elizabeth were re-united in early 1820,
they lived in the Lower Minto area of N.S.W. Edward received his Ticket of Leave in June 1820, and he was farming
on 20 acres. He is described as a Sawyer and Farmer on several documents in the next 15 years.

In the early 1850s, Edward purchased the Glendiver Estate near Camden. This property was then divided and retained in the family
as Glendiver and Glenmore. The property Hardwick was added shortly afterwards.
