Elizabeth Buckley

Born: c. October 1816 at Shaw, Lancashire, England.
Arrived Sydney: 17th September 1818.
Vessel: Maria (1).
Status: Free, child of convict Mary Buckley.
Married: William Wall in 1833 at Liverpool, N.S.W.
Died: 14th February 1901 (or 1907) in Bendigo, Victoria.
Buried:
Father: James Buckley.
Mother: Mary Hitchen (Hitchin).

Profile:
Elizabeth was the fifth born child of convicts James and Mary Buckley who had each, at different times previously, been convicted of larceny in the Lancaster Quarter
Sessions and sentenced to transportation for seven years. James had arrived in Parramatta per ‘Morley 2’ in November 1818 and Mary, together with four of their children,
per ‘Maria 1’ in September 1818.

Elizabeth  married William Wall at Liverpool in 1833. They lived in Maitland, N.S.W. until the 1850’s when they moved to the gold diggings in Victoria.
