During the Macquarie era on 27 February 1818 Frederick was seeking men on stores to assist in the cultivation of his grain near Richmond. On 20 January 1820 he was on a list of prisoners to be sent to Newcastle. He was to receive a land grant on 18 September 1820###

After the Macquarie era between May & August 1822 Frederick was clerk to the Govt Meter of Coals and Cedar & Superintendent of Govt. Cattle & sheep at Newcastle. In 1824 he was Clerk to the Newcastle Commandant & on 10 April 1824 was appointed to act as Principal Superintendent of Convicts and Public Works at Newcastle. On 21 April Frederick was claiming a reward for capturing nine stragglers, became Principal Superintendent of Convicts and Public Works on 24 April. On 7 May 1824 he made a claim for apprehending seamen. He was still Superintendent when his salary was paid on 31 December 1824. On18 May 1825 there was a letter re his measurement of timber for the merchant Simeon Lord###
