George Buckley

Died: 28th May 1867 at East Maitland N.S.W.
Buried: 29th May 1867 at Church of England Burial Ground, West Maitland, N.S.W.
Father: James Buckley.
Mother: Mary Hitchen (Hitchin).


Profile:
George was the second born child of convicts James and Mary Buckley who had each, at different times previously, been convicted of larceny in the Lancaster Quarter Sessions and sentenced to transportation for seven years. James had arrived in Parramatta per ‘Morley 2’ in November 1818 and Mary, together with four of their children, per ‘Maria 1’ in September 1818. George married Sophia Gower at Parramatta in 1835. George was a blacksmith and nailor and they had six children between 1837 and 1854. One child died as an infant.
