Profile:
After the Macquarie era, the following children were born to Jane and John:-
Matthew William born on the 9th March 1825 at Sydney, N.S.W.
Elizabeth Melville born on the 27th March 1827 at Melville Island.
William born on the 6th October 1829 at Sydney, N.S.W.

Jane went to Melville Island with her husband and family on the Phillip Dundas on the 2nd December 1825, returning to Sydney on the Lucy Anne
on the 10th June 1829. During that time she endured many hardships in extreme conditions including the birth of a daughter. Her death soon after
their return was a great blow to the little family and the two older children were placed in orphanages. The fate of the baby is unknown.

Richardson did not have his Ticket of Leave so could not support the children. He continued to be in trouble until he went as a botanical
collector for Sir Thomas Mitchell on the 1836 exploration of the rivers of NSW, and the exploration of south and western Victoria after which
he was granted a Conditional Pardon.
